February 2017 Favorites

Were we not in January 2017, like yesterday!? Well, I was just trying to digest that we are in 2017 and March begins. 😕

Anyway, to the good things, New Month End - New Favorites

My top 5 categories of everything I loved this month.

1) Makeup Category: Clinique Pop Lipstick in Raspberry Pop No. 24

Whats a monthly favorite without a big shout-out to lipsticks! The Clinique Pop Lipstick collection have been around for a while and I was already finding a hard time finding yet another perfect shade of Mac Lipstick so time for "Brand Change". It was also one of my new year's resolution to experiment new products and to come out of my comfort zone. First off, lets spare a sec or two to admire how flattering this shade is, I was hunting for something in nude for an everyday color but I couldn't stop myself from picking this one for its beautiful shade which can work for both day and night time and its amazing texture. It is easy on the lips and does have a good staying power inspite of being glossy in finish. The packaging is of good quality and keeps the lipstick bullet safe. It is quite sturdy and compact which means more space for other junk in the handbag. 😍 I enjoyed wearing this lip shade mainly at night time for a casual look with minimal eye make up.

2) Skincare Category: Vichy Normaderm Nuit Detox

Skincare has so far been a top priority game this year. I have been trying to study my skin needs and what irritates it for the past few months with the help of my dermatologist. I have been using this cream right before bedtime and what I absolutely find amazing is its ability to penetrate through the skin in no time. It has a pleasant scent and a small pea size amount is enough for the whole face which means it is super long lasting. I won't say it can be replaced for a moisturizer but can be used after a moisture for bit of extra wow. You wake up with your skin feeling taken care of with this baby.

3) Body Category: The Body Shop: Pinita Colada Body Sorbet

Ah! the fragrance - How can something smell sooooooo awesome! Ok, I admit I did not need one more extra body care item in my stash, but here it is, in my Life - completely dominating my sense of smell. It is a heavily scented body moisturizer and you can use it when you do want something as heavy as a body butter. It is satisfyingly mositurising and I enjoy using it post shower so the fragrance lingers for a very very long time.

4) Book Category: I have 2 winners here

Books I loved

Fiction: Its all in the Planets

A lovely fiction by Preeti Shenoy. This was the first book I read by her and I thoroughly enjoyed the flow of the story. Some portions were pretty predictable and Bollywood style, but who doesn't love that! A good pick when you are traveling some place as it is an easy read and you can finish the book quickly. What I liked about the book was it was a simple story that you will remember for its cuteness.

Food: Good Housekeeping - Kitchen Comforts

There is always room for a good cook book. With social media having several pages and posts on quick recipes the trend of investing on a cook book is become 1947, still the joy of reading a physical book and bookmarking recipes has its own joy and for a culinary enthusiast like my husband - it was a perfect purchase.

5) Movie/TV-Series Category: The Crown

I am completely behind schedule on this one - what a season. It had everything one expects in an English drama. The plot, the cast, the cinematography and the crisp editing  convinces me to wait expectantly for Season 2. The moment I got my hands on it I binged watched the entire season in 2 days - Mad I know. But as they propagate, "The Crown must win, The Crown must always win." 🙋I loved how they shown the current Queen's youth with simple taste for outfits and makeup but personally I loved Princess Margaret's impeccable sense of style portrayed in Season 1.

Bioderma Node DS+ Shampooing Review

Bioderma! A brand every skin/hair care fancying woman greedily hoards. Well in my case I needed to pick this "heaven sent" product to heed to my never-ending, every stalking dandruff problem. I have been facing persistent dandruff right since I was a kid, but with time and changing products the flaky snow on my head just got worse. I had been using The Body Shop - Ginger Anti Dandruff shampoo, as mentioned in my earlier post here , I never swore by it that it did any good or bad to my dandruff situation, but I still continue using it every once a while and avoid using it on my scalp off-late. I was recommended this shampoo by my dermatologist as  I recently had some problem with an allergy on my lip (about that I will cover in another post - coming soon!) which was triggered by dandruff *sighs*. Ok back to Bioderma Node DS+ shampoo Claims of this product: - Reduces rapid increase of Malassezia yeast which triggers dandruff - Prevents recurrence of da

VLCC Pista Massage Cream Review

For good number of years, I have been using the facial kits by VLCC, it is a good last minute self-facial treat and does the job of putting up a sublime glow to your face without spending an hour or two at the salon. I thought to give this product   a try , as I was looking for a massage cream, which I can include in my weekend pamper sessions. I did not want a high-end brand or an expensive product because sometimes I just like a simple scrub, face wash, face pack combination of pamper sesh' for my face and thats it! About the packaging and price It is a 50g massage cream which retails for Rs. 260/-. It is not a new product by VLCC and has been in the market for a while. It comes in a plastic jar and is well sealed. In terms of packaging it is nothing fancy and it has a plastic covering with all the details of the ingredients, price, expiry date and method of usage.  About the product and usage The cream is green in color and has a slightly off

A Marks & Spencer Beauty: Mini Perfume Haul

I am all into miniatures these days and when I saw these beauties, I had to dig in. I have never been a perfume purchase person, as mostly they were gifted to me. I love a real good mist and was quite committed to Bath & Body Works and The Body Shop ones for a long time now so I decided lets switch that up and that is when I found these lil' devils and whats better than carrying these dinky yet amazing perfumes around for a spritz! There was an ample collection in all different sizes and notes, I am sure there is something for everyone. I was looking for an everyday type of a scent, so I picked up a day scent, an evening scent and a floral scent.  Since they are so dinky and sturdy you can easily carry them in your smallest purses throughout the day. 1)  Marks & Spencer Beauty:  Lavender Eau De Toilette - This scent is from their floral collection, I never owned an ONLY lavender scent before, I sniffed it I loved it, it is a typical lavender subtle scent, yet it makes
