Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color - Shade Cali Rose

I won't consider myself as a total lipstick junkie, but, yeah lipsticks are my thing, no doubt, and no matter how I have this "love at first sight" obsession with new lip products, I always kinda make the lipstick and my relationship almost "playing hard to get" till I really I start using it.

For this baby - I gave up, I GAVE UP! I AM USING IT NON-STOP, ever since I bought it.

There are total 20 shades to choose from and the colors ranges from pink-peach, coral nude tones, to rosy pinks, to some really hot reds and then to those more vampy typa shades in burgundy and maroon. Which means, there is at least one for everyone in the bucket. Each of these beauties will cost your pocket INR 1700 for 3.4g of product, which in my opinion, is pretty decent for a high-end brand of lipstick.

The packaging itself is this classy Bobbi Brown black matte case with the center  portion of the case depicting the color of the product. This really helps when you are purchasing the lipstick online. Now many lipsticks come with this kind of a packaging, but I think in terms of accuracy of the color of the lipstick and the band of color on the casing is something worth applauding.

Now to the formula, shades and color pay off

The lipstick formulation is more like a a heavy lip balm with fantastic color pay off, because of the staining element in the formula. The lipstick almost feels like a balmy goodness and does the job of hydrating and moisturizing your lips on application, with color that will last a very long time. The product contains Vitamin C & E and beeswax, which gives it this balmy texture. The shades in this collection is quite broad and finding something you would like would not be a problem. Some of the shades which would compliment Indian skin tones beautifully, in my opinion, are Babe, Bare, Lilac, Cali Rose, Watermelon, Grenadine, Regal, Crush, Punch, Cherry, Cabana, Ruby, Plum - Yeah I named like 13 out of 20, so I think in terms of shades, they have done a fine job. Now, in terms of color pay off, I won't say you can expect a lipstick like this to stay put for hours and hours, its not built that way, but yet the stain remains, even on eating and drinking. You won't feel like your lips are all bare after a couple of hours, there will be some tint on your lips. You can use it as a lip balm effect in terms of color pay off or layer it and can get this really pigmented lipstick out of it as well.

My take and Recommendation

I picked up the shade Cali Rose, before I could enter the store, I was pretty confident, I would pick up Bare or Babe - those are my kinda shades. I found Bare very light for my skin tone and Babe was not available in the stores, as it was an "online exclusive only" shade. I swatched almost all lipsticks - thats what you do when you are in the store, right?! But, I narrowed down to trying 3 lipsticks which were Lilac, Cabana and Cali Rose. I liked Lilac, but I felt purple-y tones are not so much me, Cabana was great - but I had something similar from Revlon and when I put on Cali Rose, I loved how my kinda shade it was. It is a clear muted-rosy pink shade. Its a shade you can pull of both for day and night time and through the year. Loved the formula, loved the shade. I was pretty sure, if I was not on a dinner reservation in like the next 30 minutes on entering the Bobbi Brown store, I would have been tempted to buy at least one more. But, yeah, I am on this one or  two may be lipstick purchase per collection kinda goal for 2018 - I am not sure if I will stick to it, but here I did. Saying all that, you guessed it. I am totally recommending this product. It is fairly priced, amazing formulation, great selection of shades, what else one would would want from a lipstick?!

Have you picked one of these beauties?

Lotus Professional Phyto-Rx Whitening & Brightening Serum Review

I have always liked a good Lotus product every now and then. Sometime during the start of winters I decided to include serums in my skincare routine, now a dry skin baby like me needs to think a couple of times before adding something new to my skincare routine so as to not further dry my skin and that too in winters. I started using the  Lotus Professional Phyto-Rx Whitening & Brightening Serum from December last year and I was using it on alternate days and night, as I do not believe using something new regularly just to see how my skin is reacting in the first few days. I picked this product from the Nykaa winter sale and managed to get a good discount as well. The MRP is INR 545 for 30ml and usually you do end up getting discount of 20-25% on Nykaa. Though, it is not a super pricey product, discounts always help while purchasing a "never tried before" product. I was waiting to use it for a month or so, before I could share my two cents on it. Now abou...

Things I Am Loving Lately...

Google Image Since, it is a month of love and things related to love, I thought why not throw in a post about things I've been loving lately... Well, I know the whole buzz about Valentines' Day and all the days preceding to it are not so much related about loving "things", so much as loving a person or people or even yourself. But, I am no expert on the subject to write anything lovey-dovey, so I will do what I think I know best, talk about things I have loved recently. Reading I won't classify myself to be a voracious reader or anything close to that, but every now and then, I enjoy a good book. Reading is a great way to realize how simple life can be, without all the complexities of the wifi and social media. I read a book by Sudha Murty - Wise And Otherwise, it was a good start to begin my reading game again, as it is a compilation of 51 short stories, mostly based on her experience and observations about day to day life. I am currently readin...

VLCC Pista Massage Cream Review

For good number of years, I have been using the facial kits by VLCC, it is a good last minute self-facial treat and does the job of putting up a sublime glow to your face without spending an hour or two at the salon. I thought to give this product   a try , as I was looking for a massage cream, which I can include in my weekend pamper sessions. I did not want a high-end brand or an expensive product because sometimes I just like a simple scrub, face wash, face pack combination of pamper sesh' for my face and thats it! About the packaging and price It is a 50g massage cream which retails for Rs. 260/-. It is not a new product by VLCC and has been in the market for a while. It comes in a plastic jar and is well sealed. In terms of packaging it is nothing fancy and it has a plastic covering with all the details of the ingredients, price, expiry date and method of usage.  About the product and usage The cream is green in color and has a slightl...
