Breast Cancer Awareness Month

... where pink means hope! October is a special month for me as I celebrate my birthday on 19th... however I am glad it is also a month for breast cancer awareness.  Data shows that about 1500 lives are lost simply because of not regularly checking/examining your breasts for lumps and physical changes. Breast examination is not that complicated and there is ample data over the internet to examine yourself in the correct way.  There is a website (among so many) which I came across  www.breastcancernow.org which gives guidance on the subject and it also suggests an app Breast Check Now which is quite user friendly and also prompts on regular examination. October 21 is National Mammography Day. Well, this post is less of my talk and more of an urge to go get yourself examined and also ask your mom, sis, friend, grandma, neighbor and so on to get themselves examined as well.

How I Dealt With My Lip Allergy...

Quite recently, I developed a non-understandable allergy on my upper lip area and I was all confused what it was and how did it arrive at my door step! It was almost like a rash cum spot cum faded skin-thingy that appeared on my lip one day. I tried all the googling and tried all the home-remedies. Stopped looking at my MAC lipsticks for once, kept all make up aside for a week - only to realize it is something that I have stored on my head - yes beautiful snowy almost innocent dandruff (lovingly, (with despair), called - Ms. Dandy!) I realized it was time to visit the dermatologist for my lip condition. And what she says - Yep! Ms. Dandy has invited a friend in your lip area...  It was not all dandruff that resulted in that lip rash but also my undying habit of smacking my lips, worsened the situation. Now Ms. Dandy lived with me always, My mum described how I was born with a flakey head. With time, it all reduced but off-late because of some change in probably weather, pr

Uriage Bariederm Levres Lip Soothing Balm Review

Being a lip product addict, I happily purchased yet another lip product - but this time something to treat and pamper my lips. I had a recent lip allergy situation which needed attention and I was suggested the Uriage Bariederm Levres Lip Soothing Balm for regular usage. This lip balm formula is specially designed for treating severely dry, chapped lips.  Uriage lip soothing balm helps in keeping your lips moisturized, without making it feel greasy. It is fragrance free and almost looks like a non-gooey petroleum jelly product. This 15 ml French goodness has found a happy home in my handbag and lives there almost everyday. I have been using this product for about a month now and it lives up to what it claims. I mostly use it before application of any other lip product and let it sit for a few minutes so it has enough time to do its job and then apply whatever lip of lipstick/lip gloss and I can be sure my lips will stay moisturized.  Pros - Good moisturizer for the lips

Bioderma Node DS+ Shampooing Review

Bioderma! A brand every skin/hair care fancying woman greedily hoards. Well in my case I needed to pick this "heaven sent" product to heed to my never-ending, every stalking dandruff problem. I have been facing persistent dandruff right since I was a kid, but with time and changing products the flaky snow on my head just got worse. I had been using The Body Shop - Ginger Anti Dandruff shampoo, as mentioned in my earlier post here , I never swore by it that it did any good or bad to my dandruff situation, but I still continue using it every once a while and avoid using it on my scalp off-late. I was recommended this shampoo by my dermatologist as  I recently had some problem with an allergy on my lip (about that I will cover in another post - coming soon!) which was triggered by dandruff *sighs*. Ok back to Bioderma Node DS+ shampoo Claims of this product: - Reduces rapid increase of Malassezia yeast which triggers dandruff - Prevents recurrence of da

5 Tips to De-Stress on a Weekend

Google Image Ever heard anyone say "Need a day between Saturday and Sunday!" - if thats your phrase lately - dig in for the tips to have a calmer, more relaxed weekend... Tip 1: Disconnect Google Image The whole week is so packed with activity that we hardly get any time to disconnect from reality - hence the weekend! Those measly 48 hours sometimes 24 hours is all we got and disconnecting from the usual stuff helps to enjoy it better when we get back to it. This is the time to keep away from those cellphones and laptops and anything that is work or task related, as far as possible if it is adding to the stress. Doing something different over the weekend only preps you better for the week ahead and you feel more connected to all things that define work for you. 2. Reconnect Google Image Completely opposite right... This is the time you must take time to reconnect with things that you usually do not have the time for during the week. It could

My "To Be Read" Pile August 2016

Books... I think prior to reading blogs and content on the internet - these li'l saviors satisfied my urge to know what the other thinks, feels, desires, expresses, prays for and lives... Okay... done with the philosophical statement :)  This post is about my current "To Be Read" pile of books. A little about the reader me: I would never say that I am a well read person or I have views on different genres of writing; however, I love myself some good book reading time every now and then and am genuinely pleased with buying and owning books that interest me. These books are some which I have recently collected (old and new) and plan to read in the coming months. * The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins * The Bastard of Istanbul - Elif Shafak * Under Delhi - Sorabh Pant * Return to the Little Coffee Shop of Kabul - Deborah Rodriguez (Current read) * Anatomy of a Misfit - Andrea Portes (started with it - need to continue) Happy Reading!!! to all t

The Body Shop Empties!

Left: Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo, Middle top: Vitamin E Boost Sorbet, Middle bottom: Aloe soothing day cream, Extreme top: Vitamin E moisture serum, Right: Satsuma puree body lotion Today I will be posting about some of my faves from The Body Shop (TBS) and how I have used them to death because of my love for them. :) Sandra thinks: "I am not someone who can finish what I have started, be it reading a book, finishing my food, using my products, finishing an article... Ok come on Sandra, you have changed now" Somehow, I am not longer the Libra, who keeps switching scales , OK I AM! But I switch more wisely now. :P That being said, I have some empties, which is rare for me. I usually get bored using the same stuff again and again. TBS has always surprised me, as I tend to stick to their products by habit till the end - and one does that because of the quality and beauty of the product. Ok now to the products in order of my love for them... 1) The Body Shop Vit

Essence Cosmetics Blushes - Drugstore Steal

Left: 80 Autumn Peach, Right: 70 Kissable When it comes to blushes, I always find it difficult to decide which will compliment my skin tone, how much to use, which shade will suit what occasion and so on. It is one of the most ignored make up items in my make up stash, I always felt you can use blush under a camera or for an occasion when you are all dolled up. Well its been a year or two my perception of blush usage has completely changed, I like using blush now even for just an outing, even when I have not layered my skin with foundation or concealer.  Now to Essence Blushes 70 Kissable 80 Autumn Peach 70 Kissable 80 Autumn Peach I have two of the essence blushes in my collection. Both shades are very different and I tend to use 70 Kissable more often as its a nice rose pink shade and flatters my skin tone very well. 80 Autumn Peach: There was a time when I was going through a peach-coral phase, where everything from my wardrobe to my na

3 Tips for Saying a No Confidently

Google Image A scene from the movie 27 Dresses For those who have watched the movie, you know why I have inserted the above pic and for those who have not... In Short... Well the guy, he is just a guy who work for the magazine world covering weddings and the girl, well she is the elder sis' and also a part-time bridesmaid to many brides in the city and also someone who cannot use the word NO! in her life, no matter what... The scene is somewhat like this - the girl find out that her younger sis' (Tess) is gonna get married wearing her moms' wedding dress (which the elder sis' wanted) and marrying the man (apparently, which the elder sis' wanted too) and now she also had to become her lil sis' BRIDESMAID! Ok back to the above scene... Jane: My lil' sis is getting married... Kevin: Ah! Before you? Jane: Thats not what I am upset about.. . Kevin: Then what are you upset about? Jane: You don't know Tess, she is going to want me to d
